Minnesota New Theater Conference

August 24-25, 2024
The Crane Theater

What’s New Theater?

Some call it devised, some call it ensemble theater, some call it collaboratively created. If you are creating new works of theater as a group, this conference is for you.

Why a conference?

There’s a lot of talented artists in Minnesota collaboratively creating new theater in various ways. Some call it devised, some call it ensemble, some call it workshopped. Before the pandemic, some of us began talking about getting together and sharing notes. Talking about how we create, what we’ve tried, what has worked, what hasn’t. Now, we’re making it happen. And we’d like as many talented artists are interested to join in as well.

Participating Companies

  • The Birth Play Project

he Birth Play Project exists to place birth in public memory by developing representational practices for staging birth stories in community. The Project began as a site of artistic research for director Madeline Wall and has grown into a company of ten artists as of January 1, 2024.
