Circus: The Act of Story-Making
Come join professional circus artist Benjamin Domask-Ruh and explore storytelling vs story-making using unfamiliar tools. Participants will begin by finding common ground around their own understanding of the word ‘Circus’ before turning to Circus Dramaturgs of today for a broader understanding. Benjamin will then lead a hands-on learning experience demonstrating Circus’ ability to create tension, focus, and drama through the act of ‘balance’. The session culminates in a small group devising exercise focused on ‘making’ an immediate shared experience between audience and performer(s) wherein lies a story to be ‘told’.
